Dictionary of the Khazars

Dictionary of the Khazars (Male Edition) - Milorad Pavić, Christina Pribichevich-Zoric One the most original novels I've ever read, which was particularly striking to read while the new conflicts were going in Bosnia. I read it not in order but by following the links at the bottom of one entry to the next. I really do need to re-read this one sometime. If I had to sum it up briefly, I'd call it a novel in ethnic conflict with itself.
